Virgil (Ray) Smith
Burleson – Ray Smith passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the age of 71. Funeral: At Ray’s request, a private ceremony will be held at Dallas National Memorial Cemetery at a future date. In Memory: The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ray’s memory to In Touch Ministries, P.O. Box 7900, Atlanta, GA 30357 Ray served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was Honorably Discharged in 1965. After his service he went on to earn his master electrician license and later worked to earn his certification as locksmith. Ray was employed and retired from UTA – Arlington where he served as a manager in the facilities management division.  After retirement, Ray enjoyed spending countless hours in the workshop making toys and other woodworking projects while making time for 2 cross country tours of the U.S on his motorcycle.  He never met a stranger; he loved and was loved; he will certainly be missed but we celebrate his life and the life he lived. He was a man of God and now he is home.  Ray was preceded in death by his Father and Mother – Roy and Emma Smith, 2 sisters – Vera and Wanda, 4 brothers – Bob, Les, Ed, and Don, 1 son – Tony Greg Smith.  He is survived by his wife Kathy; Son Gregg Smith; Son Brent Smith and his wife Jill; Step Son Greg Kohles and his wife Stacie; 6 grandchildren, Chad Smith, Jake Smith, Bailey Smith, Emily Smith, Shelby Smith, and Toni Kohles; 2 sisters, Ruby and Betty; 3 brothers, Ernie, George, and Larry; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
