Velma Gregg
BURLESON — Velma Gregg, age 90, of Burleson, Texas, passed away peacefully and went to her final Home in Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, and to join her loving husband of 56 years, Chester “Glen” Gregg; son, Danny Gregg; parents, Edd and Ila Johnson; and grandson, Victor Maxey; sons-in-law, Rev. Bill Maxey, and John Stubblefield, as well as many other loved ones and a host of dear friends. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the funeral home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Survivors: Velma is survived by four children:  Pat Stubblefield, Glenda Maxey, Jerry Gregg  and Joan Guinn, daughter-in-law, Beverly Gregg, and son-in-law, Mike Guinn, Eight Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandson.  She is also survived by three brothers:  Harvey, Floyd and Thomas Ray Johnson, their wives, Billye and Lynda and many nieces and nephews. Velma lived an exemplary Christian life and was the perfect example of the woman described in Proverbs 31, tending to her household well.  She was a very sweet, loving, dutiful wife and a wonderful Mother to her five children and to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called her “Granny”.  Velma was probably the most appreciative person of all times and never failed to express her thanks to everyone.  She was a devoted member for many years at Christian Life Center, a church in Fort Worth, teaching Sunday School, helping to prepare meals for conventions, teaching in the Christian School, working in Youth Camps and the supportive wife of a Church Elder.  In her early years as a PK (Preacher’s Kid), she sang and played the guitar in the church services.  Velma continued to love all the Hymns of years gone by, as well as the newer songs.  She always had a song in her heart and on her lips at all times, and was a Prayer Warrior who faithfully read God’s Word each day.  She was presently a member of Lighthouse Church in Burleson. Pallbearers will be Grandsons:  Steve Gregg, Scott Gregg, Kenneth Richardson, Joshua Guinn and Grandsons-in-law, Ricky Roberson, David Wood and Kent Fowler. Rev. Cory Smithee, Pastor of the North Elevation Church in Mansfield, will officiate at both the Memorial Service and immediately after at the Internment at Laurel Land on Crowley Rd, Fort Worth.

  1. My condolences to Velma’s immediate family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and to all her friends and extended family, of which I have always been proud to be a part. Velma is the last of the matriarchs of the Three Gregg Brother’s Clan. She was in short, a wonderful human being living her life in step with her Christian beliefs. She will be missed.

  5. Dear Gregg family,
Please accept my deep regrets for your loss. You don’t know me but I wanted to share what helped me when I lost my whole family to this enemy death which always brings grief and pain but I found comfort and hope in what Jehovah Gods word the Bible says at John11:11 and Mark5:39 that they’re just asleep and Jesus states at John5:28,29 that I’ll see them again and this helps me get through each day because I miss them so much. I truly hope this has helped in some way because this is my purpose in sharing this with you. Please know that I do share your grief and you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Gloria Mosley
