Timothy K. Cates
Aledo, Texas – Timothy K. Cates, 70, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, January 3, 2014. Born in North Carolina in 1943, Tim proudly served his country for four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a graduate of Barton College and enjoyed a successful career in financial management. His travels to New York City, Costa Rica, and Okinawa gave him a perspective rich in wisdom and priority. As Vice-President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of Mission Valley Textiles, Inc. in New Braunfels, Texas, he was grateful to have been part of the original Management-Acquisition Group and served on the Board of Directors until 1998. He loved his job and the people he worked with and often said that he would have done his job for free. Preferring rather to lead a quiet and unassuming life, this humble servant of the Lord performed his acts of kindness in private and always showed unconditional love to others. He loved his girls beyond measure and learned to live peacefully in a house full of women. He believed in a strong work ethic, integrity, generosity, forgiveness, and kindness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Tim is survived by his wife of 43 years Christine, daughter Kelly Anne Cates, daughter Susan Rooney, son-in-law Paul Rooney, grandson Pauli, and beloved extended family and friends. A family memorial service is planned for a future time. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a charitable donation in his honor may send it to The East Parker County Center of Hope, his favorite charity. Donation Details: Checks should be made to: East Parker County Center of Hope, 9901 E. Bankhead Hwy Suite C&D, Aledo, TX 76008. In the memo section, indicate that the gift is in Tim’s honor. If giving cash, please include in the note this reference. Anyone wishing to send a card of condolence to the family may address it to PO Box 385, Aledo, Texas 76008.

  1. I was very sorry to read your post about your husband Tim. He sounds like a very special person. You were blessed to have found such a wonderful man, I wish I could have known him. My prayers for you and your family.

  2. He will be missed by us all. Such a gentle man and wonderful Poppy. Ephesians 4 vs 8 as did Jesus… so Mr.Cates followed that same path. My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Cates and Family
