Susan Buckner
Susan Buckner of Benbrook, Texas, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 13, from cancer. She was born in Monahans, Texas, lived most of her life in the Ft. Worth area, and was a Benbrook resident since 1956.  She was a wife of 60 years to Gene Buckner, mother of two children, and a doting “Memaw” to 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Susan was not just a homemaker, but also an artist, teacher, a collector with uniquely eclectic tastes, and loved to quilt and crochet. She especially loved her travels with husband, Gene, teaching children’s art classes, and her years volunteering with ABC Quilts and Project Linus. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Homer Kinnaird, sister Jan Fisher, husband Gene Buckner, and son Dave Buckner. She is survived by her daughter Leah (Rick) Lancaster, brother Robert (Jenny) Kinnaird, grandchildren Liz, William, John, Raechel (Josh), great-grandchildren Natalie, Lucas, and Marshall, as well as cousins and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 12, 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Benbrook, 1015 McKinley St., Benbrook, TX  76126. Cremation arrangements by Lone Star Cremation.

  1. My husband, Jim Welch was her deacon for 2 years. She was very talented & knowledgeable. Susan loved collecting teapots. Her cat always wanted our attention. She crocheted a blanket for us. She was a lovely lady.

  2. Mrs. Buckner was like a second Mother to me. Many weekends were spent at her home back in my teens. I loved listening to her talk as she was knowledgeable on many subjects. Any absolute joy to be around and to have known, even for such a short period in my life. I learned so much from her during my stressful “teen” years. I loved her dearly.
