Shannon Gill
Shannon Kathleen Gill, age 59, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, our beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend was a graduate of Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas who received her Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of North Texas in Denton. Shannon was an active member at First United Church of Denton. She attended Sunday service regularly and was active in women’s ministries, Bible study, and Sunday school. She loved going on mission trips and served as a chaperone many times when her daughter was young. She loved working with young children in the church. She was also involved in prison fellowship, showing others that there was hope and light in their lives. She loved all animals – especially horses. When she lived in North Carolina with her family, she volunteered to help special needs children through a special horseback riding program. She spent her spare time giving to others including caring for her young nephew, sending greeting cards and buying gifts to brighten someone’s day, and pet-sitting. Shannon was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Randall and Maxine Williams and maternal Grandparents Phillip and Elnora Selness. She is survived by her parents Randall and Susan Williams, her younger brother Randall Williams, her younger sister Lauren Nguyen, her daughter Megan Gill and Megan’s fiancée Will Parlett, her nephew Isaac Nguyen, ex-husband Barton Gill, and many other loving extended family members. Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Denton, 201 S Locust St, at 10am on Saturday, January 27th. Shannon’s family requests that everyone wears blue since that is her favorite color. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center. Please note that they do not take electronic donations, and donations must be mailed. Donations may be sent to City of Denton Animal Shelter at 3717 N Elm Street, Denton, TX, 76207. The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and care given to Shannon and her family at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. Our deepest thanks and appreciation for Bart Gill for his unwavering care, guidance, and support of our family during this difficult time. Shannon was, and will forever remain, a bright and beautiful light in all our lives.
