Sean Andrew McGaughy
Grandview, TX – Sean Andrew McGaughy passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 16th, 2024. He was born March 24th, 1957 in Encino, CA. Sean is survived by his children, Bart H. (Sandra) McGaughy and Kortney M. McGaughy, both living in TX. Preceding him in death were his mother Gene (aka Chris) Venezia, father Rodney, brother Mike, and sister Donna (Jim) Rowland all who lived in California. Also, preceding him was Martina Arredondo, a special friend from Grandview, TX. Sean was the youngest of three children born to Rodney H. McGaughy and Gene F. Venezia, in the early morning of March 24th, 1957. His childhood, into his early 30s was spent in Los Angeles County, California. He left high school early to pursue his acting/stunt man career, alongside his father Rodney and brother Mike. Some notable appearances of his were in Silverado, Far and Away, Little House on the Prairie, and El Dorado. He would forge lasting friendships and create cherished memories during this period of his life. Sean met his wife Vicki McClain in 1987 when they both lived in Gilbert, AZ. They moved to North Platte, NE and married in June 1989. Kortney was born in 1991 and Bart in 1992 to complete their family. Sean worked several jobs in North Platte, but found his place with Sean’s Painting Service, working as an entrepreneur; doing the handyman work he enjoyed. Although Sean and Vicki divorced, they remained close and always provided together for their kids. Vicki remarried and moved to TX in 2005, Sean moved to TX shortly thereafter and also resided in Palmer, TX where he continued to be a dedicated and loving father to his children. Sean pursued his entrepreneurial aspirations as a handyman in TX before becoming employed at Mid Texas International Center. Shortly after moving to Grandview, TX he retired after over a decade with Mid Texas. Sean kept in contact with many coworkers after his retirement, several visiting him regularly in Grandview. In November 2020 Sean was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which, with his existing COPD, would lead to further health issues that resulted in his passing. Despite his failing health, he continued to build relationships with neighbors, kept in contact with friends and family, and shared positive social interactions with everyone he met. Sean will always be remembered as a beloved friend and loving father. A memorial for Sean’s life will be held Saturday March 30th 12:30PM at Creekside Church, 5401 US 287, Midlothian, TX 76065. In lieu of flowers, the family requests cards and donations, to assist in final expenses, be sent to: Bart McGaughy, 1606 Antonio Dr Apt 2432, Fort Worth, TX 76108.

  1. RIP cousin Sean. Spoke to you last July for the 1st time in about 50 years, thank you for keeping in touch with my mother. Your 1st cousin who lived in Auburn, CA, a year or so before her passing. You seemed to be a sweet caring person & we shared some memories. I loved your Dad too, Great Uncle Rod. You sounded a lot like him. Rest well, your suffering has ended. See you again some day.
