Sarita Gattis Schotta
Sarita G. Schotta, Ph.D. passed away in Fort Worth, Texas Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at age 83. She was born July 23, 1937. Sarita was a native of Fort Worth, a graduate of Paschal High School and TCU. She married Charles Schotta on September 9, 1960, and they lived most of their adult lives in Alexandria, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Schotta, parents Lottie and John Gattis, brother Jack Gattis and his wife Carolyn, niece Lana Kay Campbell and brother-in-law Alan Schotta. She is survived by two nieces – Carla Jo Peikoff and husband Nicky of Alvarado, Texas, Lori Ellen Skjong-Nilsen, and husband Stig of Burleson, Texas, sister-in-law Gloria Schotta of Fort Worth, Texas and 10 great-nieces and nephews. No memorial event is scheduled at this time. Any donations in Sarita’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

  1. Sarita and Charles were my next door neighbors in Alexandria in the 1990’s when we lived on Prince Street. She was a good friend and a lovely person, with a wonderful sense of humor. We had many happy times together.

    1. I worked at Treasury with Charles and had occasion to visit their home in old Town. I was director of TREASURY’s office in Saudi. Spent many hours with Charles in diplomatic and meetings with Saudi officials. I knew Sorita Thru Charles! Critical and most interesting times! Sorita was always gracious and always professional

  2. I was a neighbor and close friend of Charles and Sarita and loved them dearly. They were remarkable people in so many ways. I will always remember Sarita’s humor, voice and style. I see her singing in heaven now. All the best to your family.

  5. I just learned of Sarita’s passing. I had the privilege of being her next door neighbor in Alexandria for about 6 years. She was a lovely person and I so enjoyed spending time with her. We shared a love of animals and she was dearly loved by my French Bulldog, Bogart! My belated condolences to her family and many friends.

  6. Sarita’s husband Charles Schotta was my roommate at Brown University in 1957. He and Sarita was then engaged to be married. He loved her deeply, and she was the subject of his every thought. Belatedly, Sarita, rest in eternal peace with Charlie.
