Sam Gatewood
Cleburne–Funeral services for Sam Gatewood, 87, of Cleburne, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home Chapel, Cleburne, with Rev. George Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, March 5, 2004, at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home. Sam Gatewood, a master electrician and professional photographer and longtime Cleburne resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in Temple, Texas. He was born May 18, 1916, in Rio Vista, Texas, the son of S. B. and Louise Copeland Gatewood. He was educated in the Rio Vista and Cleburne school districts, and attended Texas A & M University. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II. He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 20, of Fort Worth, a lifetime member of the Metroplex Professional Photographers Association and a member of the A & M Century Club. He married Mary Ruth Harris, who preceded him in death, November 10, 1991. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and his parents. He is survived by son, Robert Sam Gatewood and wife, Marilyn of Temple; daughter, Shannon J. Clements and husband, Ron of Gainesville, Georgia; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

  1. As a little girl I loved to go across the street to vist with Sam & Mary. Sam would always love to show me his pictures he had taken out doors and explain the pictures. I remember Mary would always make popcorn balls at halloween and she would give me extra because she knew I loved them! After Mary passed away while I lived with Pat & George I would go take him food or just visit. He was a wonderful man and I will miss him. Tamara
