  11. Walt, I want you to know you & the family are in my thoughts & prayers. I am sure this what Ruth would say:

To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say.

To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I’m writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there’s no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through. God picked me up and hugged me and He said, “I welcome you. It’s good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They’ll be here later on. There’s so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.”

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day’s chores put to flight. God and I are closest to you….in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years. Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o’er. I’m closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who’s in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night……”My day was not in vain.” And now I am contented….that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got Me on your mind; I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it’s time for you to go….from that body to be free. Remember you’re not going…..you’re coming here to Me.

  13. Walt, be kind to yourself. Take things one day at a time. It’s okay to cry, to scream, to rage … those times will come, and it doesn’t mean you’re losing it. It takes time to work through grief, and there is no set formula. It’s also okay to enjoy special days. To laugh with friends. To not feel guilty about doing something “fun”. Ruth’s enjoying heaven, after all! You and the girls be patient with each others’ journey through the grief process. Give each other lots of love and understanding space as needed. Most of all, remember that God is your source! Each moment of each day.

This comes from the heart of a friend who knows what you’ll be experiencing on your journey. Oh, forgot to mention the fog you’ll probably experience for awhile. A numbness. A fog. I think it’s God’s way of keeping us from losing it once the service is over, the cards and expressions of love all read and appreciated, and everyone’s back to normal. Except you… for whom things will never be the same again. God keeps us numb until the raw emotions that would tear us apart have subsided some, and we are able to begin healing.

Praying for you and your family.

Wish I could be there Monday, but I will be with you in spirit – wearing purple. Love to you all.

  33. Walt words cannot express what you and your family are going thru right now. Ruth is where we all are striving for to be with Jesus. She fought a good fight and she was a devoted Christian. We have the peace knowing she’s in the arms of Jesus. I remember her from the days of Clairemont Christian School. Such a sweet lady. I was an honor to have our paths cross. It was good to see you 2 when you were in Bakersfield a couple years ago. Enjoyed the luncheon we had shared together. Many good memories. Your family are in my prayers may God give you peace and comfort.

  41. I am in awe at the grace with which Ruth and the entire family handled her sudden illness and rapid decline. Ruth is a beautiful person, and she will be missed tremendously. She was always encouraging others, and her death inspires me to fill the void she left and live my life differently.

  51. Our deepest condolences to all of you. My son was a former student of Mrs. Porter from Christian Academy. She was a Godly woman who embraced my son and inspired him. It was in her classroom that he constructed his first art piece, which was entered in the county art contest and won first place. My son is a senior in high school this year and a very talented artist. We will never forget Mrs. Porter and what she did for my son as well as many other children. I know she is with the Lord smiling down on us all.

  53. Beautiful video tribute to a beautiful lady! Ruth was a loving, sweet lady that I got to know through scrapbooking at church. She loved making cards to bless people with and helped make cards every year for our single moms on Mother’s Day. She loved God, her family, and friends. She will be greatly missed. May the Lord comfort Walt and the rest of her family.

  57. Walt,

I loved you wife so much. Ruth was such a precious person and a great friend. I will miss her dearly. However, in the midst of my tears from her loss, I am also rejoicing that she has received a perfect healing in heaven. I can just envision Ruth and Pastor Ron fellowshipping in heaven. We will meet again. Thank God! Walt thank you for being so faithful and loving to Ruth to the end of her life on earth and as she was entering the threshold of glory. My faith in God has been so strengthened by your example.

    Love in Christ,

  59. I was just sitting here thinking of Ruth and how she is ‘completely’ healed, never to know sickness again. We don’t always understand God’s plan but we must trust His heart. Walt, Kim, Rhonda and your families, I know there is already a great hole in your heart…a vacancy that no one can fill BUT GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of need. May he comfort you and give you peace as you begin this journey without the precious wife, mom, grandmother and friend that has brought so much joy into your lives. HE is our Peace. Ruth, I’m wearing Purple our your Celebration Day! See you soon. Lovingly, “Smitty”

  63. Walt,
Ruth is a great woman and I know that heaven is rejoicing because she is there singing with her beautiful voice. Remember that we will all be togethter again one day on those beautiful shores. I pray that God comfort you in your time of mourning and that He be with you for the rest of your days. You still have your church family here and we will always be here for you. The choir has lost a great piece of our heart but I am glad that Ruth is no longer suffering here on earth. Prayers to you and your family.

  69. We became acquainted with Ruth through her marriage to Jesse’s brother, Ken. In fact, Jesse performed their ceremony. Even after the breakup of her marriage to Jesse’s brother, we have remained friends. Throughout the years we have been in contact with Ruth and especially since she moved to Texas. We have always thought of her as our sister. We always felt loved by her and enjoyed being with her. She had a giving personality and she sees the best in everyone. Words cannot express how sad we feel at our loss of our dear sister, Ruth. The only comfort we have is that we will see her again. We have come to love Walt too through her. Walt is a most kind and thoughtful person. Always included us and our family in anything to do with them. We will continue to be friends with Walt. We will keep him in our prayers as well as Kim, Rhonda and their families.
