Robert C Burns
30 November 2016 Obituary: Robert C. Burns Robert Charles Burns, formerly of 2134 Delaview Ave, Wilmington, Delaware, died peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday morning, November 30, 2016 at Rosewood Assisted Living in Flower Mound, Texas. He was 87. Better known as Bob to his friends and family, Mr. Burns was born on October 6, 1929 to the late Robert A. and Bella D. Burns of Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1948 and the University of Delaware in 1952. He met his wife, Rae Lewis Priestly during college and they were happily married from April 12, 1955 until she died in May of 1983. Bob is survived by his three daughters and their husbands: Deni & Mark Ellis of Petersham, Massachusetts, Jennifer & Charles McCarty of Highland Village, Texas and Julia & Gary Wilmouth of Richmond, VA; and four grandchildren Katie Mae and Craig McCarty of Highland Village, Texas and Charlotte and Jacob Wilmouth of Richmond, Virginia. Bob enjoyed a 40 year career as a floral designer, working for Culver’s, Martine’s and National Decorative, as well as teaching Floral Design for continuing adult education, all in Wilmington, Delaware. Bob retired in December of 1997 and divided his time between Wilmington and Massachusetts, Texas, and Virginia where he enjoyed the company of his daughters and grandchildren. Bob was active in Atonement United Methodist Church in Claymont, Delaware, serving in many various positions over the years until he moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2008 and Flower Mound, Texas in the fall of 2012. A memorial service will be held December 20th at 4 pm at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church located at 6101 Morriss Rd, Flower Mound, TX 75028. Phone: (972) 539-8547.
