  1. Uncle Buddy was always decent and kind with me.

At my mother’s funeral, and the family gathering afterward at Aunt Linda’s house, I remember his gentle good humor. And I remember how sweet he was with the young children there.

I saw him seldom as a child myself, although I do remember Christmas with the entire family at “Mimi’s” house. We visited more in these last years, including one Christmas at the hospital.

Buddy never complained. He held himself with dignity, even a good-spirited resignation to whatever fate had in store. He made you feel easy, even if he himself was in a hospital bed.

We spoke on the phone, while he was in the hospital again. This time, he was just back to his room after the biopsy which would diagnose with lung cancer.
