Stephenville, Texas–Funeral services for Oleta Valeria Harper, 88, of Stephenville, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2003, at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne with Rev. Kenneth Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Open visitation will be until 8:00 PM, Friday evening at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home, Cleburne. Mrs. Harper, a homemaker, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, in a Stephenville Nursing Home. She was born in Bronte, Texas, January 25, 1915, the daughter of Thomas Simpson and Pearl Valeria (Couch) Walton. She married Harold Lonnie Harper, June 15, 1941, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He preceded her in death September 21, 1981. They were longtime residents of Cleburne before moving to Katy, Texas. She is survived by two sons, Judge Lon Harper, of Houston and Kenneth Harper and wife, Barbara Boyd Harper, of Los Angeles, California; one grandson, Austin C. Although we met late in life you are one of the most beautiful souls it has been my pleasure to know.
Aunt Sis… “such a gentle woman”. It seems that she was greatly loved by everyone. How I loved her stories of Vernon (my granddaddy) baptizing her doll and her laughter each time she told that story.
