Norman Cooksey Maples
Norman Cooksey Maples, 80, peacefully passed away at home with his wife, Tina Maples on April 18, 2024. He was born June 29, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, to Odie Lou Burleson and N.C. Maples. Norman served his country with honor, joining the Army, stationed in Korea in 1965. Following his military service, he pursued a legal career, earning distinction as an editor on Law Review at Baylor University. Norman practiced law in Tarrant and surrounding counties for fifty years, known for his dedication to justice and unwavering integrity. In addition to his professional achievements, Norman was fathered five daughters: Melody, Julie, Melissa, Noel “Cooksey” Maples , and Rebecca Prather. He received the award for most Pro-Bono work in Tarrant county 9 years running, and volunteered for the Parenting Center, steadfast in his commitment to helping future generations. He spent every spare moment with his beloved grandchildren Kailey Robbins, Kaden Potter, Vallen, Merrick Tillotson, Bella moon and Rosie Murillo cherishing their time together and passing on his wisdom and generosity. Norman’s legacy is one of generosity, wisdom, and compassion. His dedication to his family, community, and country is a testament to his character. Anyone who had the fortune to know him will carry forward this legacy, ensuring that his spirit lives on.
