Our son and brother, Michael Bryan Hurley, died peacefully in the arms of his family on February 5, 2024, at the age of 41. He leaves behind his beloved cat, Flint, a large extended family, dear friends, his grandmother Mildred Drake (E. E. “Jack” Drake) (Mary Jean Majors Hurley, Drexel Alvin Hurley) his parents, Tim and Janet Hurley, his brothers, Tim Hurley and Jeremy Dyer (Sarah) and a nephew, Josiah Dyer. In his life, our Michael faced several challenges. Mike met each challenge with faith, humor and persistence. To those who knew Mike in his early years, you knew the real Mike, to those who met him later, we wish you could have known his entire story. Whenever life threw him another limitation, Mike shouldered it and kept on going. Michael attended Blessing Elementary, Tidehaven Jr High and Tidehaven High School. He graduated from Palacios High School and Trinity University in San Antonio. Mike spoke about all of his soccer teammates and friends, childhood and adult, in his final months, He had treasured memories of the wonderful times in his life. Mike loved the cards, letters and pictures of your families. “I fought the good fight, loved my life and kept the faith. My journey on this beautiful planet is finished. I thank you all.” We thank you all for the prayers that sustained Michael in his fight for life. Prayer warriors, Monica Scott, Savanna Franklin with St Mark’s in Bay City and Tony Resendez of Victoria, kept our Michael uplifted in prayer and showed us all that faith always wins. Per Mike’s wishes, his ashes will be left in beautiful places by his family. We thank the National Kidney Foundation, NAMI, and the American Cancer Society for all of the work they do to help families everywhere. “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”. AA Milne Thank you Mike, our lives are forever blessed for having known you.
