Mary Cruz Ramos
FORT WORTH — Mary Cruz Ramos, passed away on Sunday June 3, 2012 during her ninety third year. Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Fort Worth; visitation: 6-8 P.M. Wednesday with rosary a beginning at 7:30 P.M. at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home in Burleson; Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth. Mary was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on November 4, 1919. She was the oldest of thirteen Children, born to Jose Castillo and Concepcion Gonzales Castillo. Mary married Jose Moreno Ramos. She raised three daughters, one son and one grandson as a single, working mother. Mary worked many years in the financial industry and retired in her 60’s. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking  and caring for her grandchildren. Her talent as a seamstress and creator of formal gowns and dance costumes  was known throughout the south Fort Worth community where she spent the majority of her life. Survivors: daughters, Juanita Valdez, Gloria Velasquez and Melinda Renna; son, Rick Ramos and special grandson, Derek Ramos; sisters, Lucy Renteria, Gracie Renteria and Mary Helen Reed; brothers, Leo Castillo, Cass Castillo, Eddie Castillo and Freddie Castillo; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.   May the long time sun shine upon you All love surround you And the pure light within you Guide your way on.
