Rest in peace Kimberly Childress (Kim Evan’s when I knew her). Kim was my age and lived two houses down from me in Balch Springs. Her mother watch us kids on the street for day care back in the preschool days. We all sort of grew up together the preteen years. While us boys on the street did our thing the few girls on the street did their thing. You know.. girls. Anyways, we all watched out for each other. At the school yard Floyd elementary and Wilkinson middle schools- us kids on Alica Lane all stuck up for each other in one way or another. Nobody gonna pick on Kim Evan’s or Shannon Durst without tangling w/us boys first. That’s how our fathers raised us. Watch out for the girls, no one gets hurt, etc. The boys are responsible for everyone. Kim was always around. She was fun. There was some great times in the many class rooms we shared. She was kind of a hoot really. Had a really great disposition on not sweating the little things. She knew how to go with the flow and work towards harmony rather than discord. A peace maker.
Kim passed away this week. Her FB page is also closed. I don’t have a picture of her. Wish I did. If Glenda Durst has a pic please share it. I searched the obituaries. Nothing yet.
Guess I will say goodbye here dear sister, sweet baby from the little nest of kiddies I grew up with. Writing these words now. I can say goodbye. Thanks for always being sweet and kind. I will always remember you. I’ll see you again on that great day Kim. May God take you into his loving arms.
