Judy is survived by her husband, Albert Gilmore Carrick; her two sons, Buzz and Matt; and her four grandchildren Claire, Kennedy, Calvin, and Katie. She will be missed by multiple other family members and friends. Judy was a caring mother, animal lover, and an outdoor enthusiast. She grew up in Ft. Worth Texas and was always an excellent student. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Christian University. After graduation, she moved to Houston with her sister Susan to find work. There she met her husband, Gil. After Buzz and Matt were born, the Carrick’s moved to California to work in the computer industry. After six long years the moved back to Texas where they belonged. Judy liked to spend her weekends on “The Farm” which was a plot of land that her family owned near Elkhart. Her greatest passion was riding horses. When she first bought her own horse, she said with a tear in her eye, “I’ve been waiting for this my entire life”. She spent countless hours in the saddle. She would ride with her dogs trailing behind her and she was always up for taking s friend or family member along too. A ceremony to commemorate her life will be held in the next few days. Her ashes will be spread under a tree at The Farm where her horses are buried. It is a beautiful spot where you can see the sun rise and set, and there is usually a cool breeze blowing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
