James Herbert Swanson
BURLESON — James Herbert Swanson, 84, passed away on Friday September 7, 2012. A Memorial Service was held in his honor. James was born on March 13, 1928 in Washburn Wisconsin to Herbert Swanson and Clara Smith Swanson. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. James worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for both Mack Trucks and Arrowhead Concrete. He was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Duluth, were he served as Deacon and Trustee and was a current member First Presbyterian Church of Crowley. James enjoyed collecting antiques as well as automobiles and was a member of several national antique automobile clubs. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time in his yard. James and his wife moved to Texas in 2005 to be close to their son. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan; son, Scott Swanson; brothers, Tom Swanson of Montana and Jerry Swanson of Minnesota.

    I am so sorry to read about the passing of Jim. I’m glad I had the unexpected opportunity to run into you, Joanna, and Jim when you were in Duluth a couple of years ago while you were having lunch with Marilyn.

  2. Joan and Scott..Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in Jimmy’s passing. We are blessed to have shared his fellowship,and stories the last few years..so glad to have spent time with him in July. He was a very special man, and will be sadly missed by all of us.

  4. I was so sorry to see the obit on Jim in the Duluth paper. He was such a nice guy. When I was young I spent a lot of time at the Swansons. Such a great family. I last saw Jim when he came to my brothers wake in Duluth which was many years ago. My condolences to the family. I now live in Morris, Il but did pass the sad news to a friend in Washburn who knew Jim.
