Floreine D. Cunningham
Floreine D. Cunningham, 1938-2015 Floreine D. Cunningham, 76, went to be with our LORD, Sunday, May 3, 2015. Funeral: The memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Visitation: from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. also at Mayfield Kiser. Interment: will immediately follow at the Crowley Cemetery. Floreine was born and raised, by her mother Rossetti and Father, Wilfred Deloatch in a Christian home in Pendleton, NC along with her two sisters, Carol and Jean. She was formally educated in Pendleton, NC. She graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a Bachelors’ Degree in Social Work in 1960. She went on to receive her Masters Degree in Social Work in 1962 in Atlanta, GA. Floreine moved to New Jersey to pursue her career. She married in 1961 while continuing to excel in her career, working for the Monmouth Medical Center Hospital in Long Branch, NJ. She then accepted a position on the counseling team in the Neptune School System in Neptune, NJ. As a single mother, she continued to work and raise her son until he left home for college. She moved back to North Carolina, after retiring in 2002, to take care of her mother; her sisters followed suit. Weeks after her mother’s passing, Floreine had a life changing event, suffering a failed aorta. With her faith in God and the support of her family, she recovered from a condition that had a 20% survival rate. She moved in with her son and daughter-in-law during recovery and eventually moved into her own home, near them, in the Fort Worth area. Floreine was an active member of Zoar Baptist Church, Pendleton, NC where she was instrumental in the founding of the women’s ministry, teaching Sunday School and working with the youth. At her local church in the Brookdale community in Fort Worth, she served as part of the finance team and assisted with the Bible study. When she was able, she attended Lifepointe Church in Crowley, Texas. Floreine was predeceased by her mother, father and her sister Carol. She is survived by her son Mark, his wife Joan, her sister Jean, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Floriene will truly be missed. I will definitely miss our calls. We are indeed happy that she and Jean had the opportunity to spend a couple of nights with us before she moved to Texas. We love you and may God give you that needed strength to endure at this time.
