Essie Mae Newsom
Essie Mae Newsom (aka “The Mighty”, aka “Bennie Jean”) passed away on September 1, 2020 at the age of 79 in the comforts of her own home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born in Banks, Arkansas to Van D and Vernese Hampton and dedicated her life to raising and providing for her four sons (Troy, LaDel, Gerald and Victor). She is a retiree of the Briggs and Stratton Corporation. In 2014, she relocated from Milwaukee, WI to Mansfield, TX. Her greatest pleasure was received when spending time with her family and friends. She always kept the family connected and whenever we needed to know the phone number, birthday, or address of another family member, we knew that “The Mighty” would not let us down. After a few minutes of looking in her flip open, A to Z address book, she would quickly provide us with the information. Essie is survived by her husband, four children, her sister Olivia and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She has touched many lives and will truly be missed.
