Edward Waymond Fitts (Pop), 91, of Granbury, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016. Edward was born in Timpson, Texas to George Edward FItts and Zelma Brittan on July 8, 1925. He graduated from Timpson High School and continued on to receive a masters degree in math and professional administration from Stephen F. Austin. Edward was married to Mary Ann Fitts on June 30, 1953. They were married for forty-two years before her passing in February of 1996. Edward served in the US Air Force for four year during the Korean War. He then worked in Port Lavaca teaching algebra, physics, and trigonometry at Calhoun High School before becoming principal at Calhoun High School. Later he worked at Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas teaching math. He enjoyed photography, fishing, camping, and spending time with his children. Some of his children’s fondest memories were camping and spending time at the lake. Canyon Lake was a favorite of the family’s. His grandkid’s fondest memories of him included learning how to fish, getting new fishing poles every time they went for a visit, or watching him carve baseball bats and other trinkets out of wood. Edward is survived by his son, Mitchell Edward Fitts, his daughter Marci Lynn Postalwait, his sister Billy Joy Allen, his brother Jerry Fitts, and his son in law James Martin Postalwait. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and his great grandchildren: Scott, Andrea, and Harper Butler, Alexander, Brittany, Jaycee and Stella Postalwait, Ashley and Maiken Postalwait, Bryce, Heather, Bryson, Gavin, and Holly Fitts and many great nieces and nephews. Edward is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Fitts and his brother Maurice Jean Fitts (Unky), his father George Edward Fitts, and his mother Zelma Brittan. All funeral arrangements are still being determined. Edward’s last request was to be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife.
