Dolores Barnett
Fort Worth, Texas – Dolores Barnett died at home, surrounded by her devoted children and granddaughter on July 18, 2020. She was born on October 25, 1928 in Dallas, Texas. Predeceased by her husbands, Joseph D. Barnett, Sr. in 2004 and Grady W. McMahan in 1973, Dolores is survived by her children, Patrick A. McMahan, Amy Gallagher and Nathan Hale. She also leaves her brother, Riggs Duke Harris, Jr. of Longview, her sister, Saundra Wilcox of Duncanville, four nieces and nephews, many grandchildren and one great grandson. Dolores was also blessed with six step children and a host of grand and great grandchildren. Dolores will also be missed by her friends, neighbors and church family. Dolores was on staff of Seagoville High School for many years where she impacted the lives of many adoring students. She was a devout Christian and donated to countless charities. She believed the best in people and always had a kind and encouraging word. She loved to travel and spend time with family. She never turned away anyone in need, whether it be a stray dog, a troubled teenager or a friend (or stranger) who needed help. In her later years she enjoyed going with her family to the Horseshoe Casino in Louisiana. We attribute her long life to her love of the Lord, a healthy amount of Blue Bell Ice Cream, a winning slot machine and a good gin martini.

  1. Delores was one of the kindest and sweetest ladies I had ever had the privilege to know. She was a part of my church family my whole life. I played at her home with her children when I was growing up. My mom and dad were lucky to call her a “best friend” for over 5o years. I am sure they are having a big party in heaven at this very moment.
I wish peace and comfort for her children and grandchildren. Know that Delores was respected and loved by many people and she will be missed.
God is great and he has us in the palm of his hand. Be comforted by his promise. He has her under his wings.
