Del Kennedy
Dr. Del Kennedy, 71, passed away on March 21, 2024, in Granbury, Texas. He was born on December 17, 1952, in Porterville, CA and in 1971 he graduated from Ukiah High School in Ukiah, CA. Dr. Kennedy served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era as an Accounting Supervisor from 1972 to 1974, after which he began his higher education. He attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX, from 1976-1978; Dallas Baptist University from 1980-1982 where he received his bachelor’s degree. Following that he attended North Carolina College of Theology where he received a Master of Arts in Theology in 2001, a Master of Arts in Financial Counseling in 2003, and a Doctor of Sacred Theology degree in 2011. In 2015 he was made a Bishop with Evangel Association of Churches and Ministries During his career he served in a bi-vocational manner. Dr. Kennedy served as pastor, revivalist, evangelist, and prophet to numerous churches throughout the country from 1976 until his passing in 2024. He was a dedicated member of various churches including Redwood Valley Community Church (Redwood Valley, CA), Early Baptist Church (Early, TX), Evangel Christian Fellowship (San Jose, CA), The North Church (Carrollton, TX), and Generations Church of Granbury. Additionally, he worked for many years as an accredited mortgage banker. Dr. Kennedy’s love for Jesus Christ was evident in how he lived his life. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or story. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and baking his famous chocolate chip cookies. His family meant the world to him, and he always prioritized spending time with his loved ones. Del is survived by his wife, Christina J. Kennedy, his sons Noah E. Kennedy (Kourtney), David W. Kennedy (Courtney), Joshua R. Kennedy, his mother Mary F. Kennedy, his brother Danny Kennedy, his sister Marcia Wilson, his grandchildren Kendra J Lochbaum, Anthony DS Lochbaum (Jessica), Rayne N Kelley, Zachary W Kennedy, Grayson A Kennedy, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father Delbert B Kennedy, his maternal grandparents Marvin E Cannon and Maud Collier, and his paternal grandparents Marcus D L Kennedy and Luby White. A Celebration of Life Service for Dr. Kennedy will be held at Generations Church of Granbury, 5718 E Hwy 377, Granbury, TX 76049, on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made online to www.alz.org, in memory of Dr. Del Kennedy.
