David Hamilton Ross
David Hamilton Ross of Paradise, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 24, 2023. David was born on September 10, 1964 in Houston, TX to Pat and Charlotte Ross. While born with Spina Bifida, he never let that stop him from living life to the fullest and making others laugh with his puns. He graduated from Longview High School in 1983. After spending time in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio, David moved to Paradise, Texas, in 2010 to be close to his family. David was a member of the Bridgeport Lions Club and Grace Fellowship Church. David was a returning camper for many years at Camp Summit, a local camp for people with disabilities. He was a huge fan of the band KISS and greatly enjoyed attending their concerts and playing their music! He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends. You could often find David listening to music and playing games on his iPad or with family. David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Pat and Orpha Ross and Duncan and Louise Allen; and uncles Duncan Allen and George Ross. He is survived by his parents, Pat and Charlotte Ross; his sister, April Whisenant and husband Travis; his nieces, Abigail and Savannah; and many other special family members and friends, including his long-term caregiver, Carol Meek who took care of David for the past 13 years. At this time there is no ceremony scheduled, but if you feel led to do something in David’s memory, the family asks that you volunteer or donate to one of the two places that he loved where he could be free of his disability: Camp Summit 17210 Campbell Road, Ste 180, Dallas Texas, 75252 or Made2Thrive P.O. Box 601, Bridgeport, Texas 76426.

  1. David was a great friend of my son, Dwight, who also has spina bifida. They attended Easter Seal pre-school together as little boys in Houston.. David has always inspired me with his can-d0 attitude, and his “never give up” way of living. I was so impressed when one year instead of “Happy Easter” David’s post read “Happy Resurrection Day!!” David made this world a much better place and I am sure Heaven is even more wonderful since David’s arrival!!!! Since I am now 88 years old I look forward to seeing my friend, David, soon!!! My love and admiration goes out his amazing family!! Spina Bifida is not easy to navigate, but with God’s help, it is well worth it!!!!

  2. David Ross was a good friend of mine.We lived in Houston as little boys and attended Easter Seal pre-school together. I always enjoyed being with David. He made being disabled easier. We had the same disability: SPINA BIFIDA. I did a 90 mile walk for Spina bifida on braces and crutches in 1982, and I plan to do another one next year in memory of David and some other things. I plan to walk from Wilkesboro, NC, where I live now, to Washington, DC. in memory of David . I will miss my good friend and will see him one day in Heaven!!!

  3. David and I became Friends after Caring for David in San Antonio as his Provider from 2005-2010. I have so many fond and beautiful, happy and funny memories of and with David.
David left this earth much too soon, but with his much love of Jesus, his faith in His Salvation,He Is Now Home with Jesus. He met our Lord and Now His True life with His New Whole Body Begins. I know He danced with Jesus already and is waiting for a Dance with each of us that he knows and loves.
He talked to me about death, and Heaven, our Spiritual bodies, then Our new bodies in the New heaven on earth. He was excited to Know He would be Healed and he would walk and dance with Jesus and he said Renee, I will have a dance with you!
Well David you beat me Home and Have seen Jesus and had your Dance, when I come Home and we have our reunion, after Jesus hugs me and says Welcome daughter,
I know you will be waiting right next to Jesus for Our Dance. I am very excited about that:) what times we will have with Jesus, forever and ever.
You Ran your race and you made so many Happy and so many Blessed to have known you, life’s and hearts touched in more ways than you probably ever knew.
I love you David, my Brother in Christ. I have never forgotten you and I never could.
See you again one day Brother!

  4. What a kind, encouraging, joyful man who I always saw smiling at GFC. Sending prayers for all who knew and loved David because this is a tough loss. What win for the souls greeting him in his heavenly home – his light is bright.

  5. David, I will miss your sweet, positive spirit and your corny jokes and the fact that you really love Kiss (even thought I totally didn’t get that lol)! I’m so glad we got to see you in November and if I’m able to, I will share the selfie we took together. I know how very loved you were by your family and friends and am thankful you are free of pain now in heaven with our Heavenly Father! Save me a dance when I get to heaven and see you again soon!
