Clayton L. "Clay" Vaden
Clayton L. “Clay” Vaden, 73, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Friday (October 5, 2012) at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Clay was born September 19, 1939 in Arkansas City, Kansas to William and Wilma (Dillon) Vaden. He was raised and educated around Maple City, Kansas. Clay served in the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged on January 15, 1962. He owned and managed his personal air conditioning business for over forty years. He married LaVerna Sanborn on December 30, 1960. Survivors include his wife LaVerna of the home; children Debbie and husband Dave Humphreys of Fort Worth, Texas, Connie Banister of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bill and wife Melanie Vaden of Granbury, Texas, Pam and husband Mike Dunn of Crowley, Texas; Six brothers, four sisters, twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Clay and LaVerna retired to the community of Hickory Hills in East Texas during the fall of 2000. His favorite activities included gardening and riding around in his van with his favorite companion, Buddy. Clay was a giving man and would help anyone in need. Services will be graveside on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice of Texas at www.CHOT.org or Cancer Care Services at www.cancercareservices.org.

  1. Clay was the older brother I was always a little in awe of as a child,I guess because of the navy uniform. As a grown-up we enjoyed coming to visit Clay and Laverna because they always showed us an enjoyable time. He had a smile through all of his pain and was very courageous, always trying to help someone else through a tough time. He will be greatly missed by all of us.   7. Although we only knew Clay a short time, we loved him. He was a giving, caring person and we miss him as a neighbor and friend. Our prayers go to the family and his sweet wife, LaVerna.

  19. Clay was one of the best people I have ever known. He was always willing to help others and would always be there if you needed help with your A/C. I will always remember Clay and look forward to seeing him when I get to heaven. He was very special person.

The first time I meet Clay he had just found out about his cancer.I had just moved to HH and had no hot water in the middle of winter.Regardles,Clay came ande helped me I could tell he did not feel good,but he came anyway even though he did not know me and did not charge me anything.Clay has helped me several times when I was in need.He was a great person.We’ve lost a great friend.I pray that ya”ll will trust that Clay is no longer suffering and in the presence of our LORD.Love Ya’ll
