Bettye Jean Miller Bounds
Bettye Jean (Miller) Bounds, born September 24, 1940 and member of First Baptist Church of Fannin, was called home forevermore late the evening of March 7th, 2016. Mom, a long-standing second generation resident of Fannin, Mississippi died peacefully in Arlington TX after complications and enduring only a few shorts months of cancerous Melanoma that metastasized to her liver and abdomen. Her birthplace was Belzoni, Mississippi where she grew up in the Wolf Lake community in Humphrey County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Wesley Miller & Minnie Louise (Prine) Miller of Fannin, MS. She was also preceded in death by Victor Allen Bounds and by her brother, Robert Earl Miller. She is a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS and worked for the Physical Plant at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she was known as the “1420 Lady” for 27+ years. Also, for over a decade she worked for the nursery at First Baptist Church of Fannin caring for infants and babies. Through the years she also assumed the role of Nanny to several (very special to us) families that she loved as her own. She was an artist, a seamstress, a homemaker, a teacher and chef. She was a friend, confidant, and an advisor to many in all her days. Never refusing her love and care, she opened her home to shelter anyone in need, including animals. She was a strong woman who loved life and lived it to her fullest, never knowing a stranger. Her laughter was contagious and it will continue to be difficult for those of us left behind. Survivors: Daughters, Linda Tannenbaum and husband, David of Burleson TX; Paula Bounds of Niceville FL; Grandchildren, Jason Tannenbaum and his wife, Whitney of Fort Worth, TX, Alton Tannenbaum and his wife, Ashley of Arlington, TX & Brittany Launius of Portland, OR.
