Bessie Hoblit McKemie
Joshua:Funeral services for Bessie Hoblit McKemie, 94, of Joshua, will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Joshua. Burial will be Private. Bessie Hoblit McKemie, a retired research chemist for Dow Chemical for twenty-two plus years, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2004 in Fort Worth. She was born in Cleburne, November 30, 1909, the daughter of Ernest and Bessie Belle (Knipe) Hoblit. She married the love of her life, Lt. Col. J.B. McKemie in Cleburne, in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1984. She was an accomplished artist and poet, having won national recognition for her poetry. She also won many awards for her gourmet cooking. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Joshua, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Chapter 131. She is survived by one sister, Grace Moseley, of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Virginia Hoblit, of Lake Jackson, Texas; nephews, Bill Ellis, Steve Carden, David Hoblit, Winston L. Carden, Jerry Moseley, Al Hoblit, Jr., Paul Hoblit and Pete Hoblit; two nieces, Diana Weeks and Judy Martin and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to a Charity of Choice.

  1. she was a very kind and caring lady, i remember always helping her walk to her car after church on sundays, and me and family and of course the town of joshua always knew her well, she will be missed.
