Audel Coale Jernigan
Audel Coale Jernigan, 79, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 24, 2015. Burial: A private military graveside will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Today is a bitter sweet day for our family. A great man, a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, our dad, Audel C Jernigan a Christian, passed from this life to his eternal home. He was born on June 27, 1935 during the depression, raised in Alabama. He joined the Air Force, traveled extenisively retiring from the Air Force after 24 years and went right to work at Air Force plant #4 for General Dynamics, now Lockheed Martin. He retired from Lockheed Martin after a combined 19 years. He enjoyed a good retirement on his Diamond J Ranch in Burleson where he spent time with mom, worked in his garden and enjoyed raising cows. Dad loved seed time and harvest time. He loved life and liked being around animals he cared for. His priorities were right and pure. We loved our dad and are thankful for his legacy as a believer in Christ Jesus. We are thankful that he left a body that he wore out. Now he has no pain, no discomfort and he is in heaven. Please pray for our family as we let go and look forward to being with him one day. Survivors: wife of 57 years, Mittie Eldora Wasden Jernigan; children, Dale Jernigan and wife Lucretia, Felicia Browning and husband Daniel, Boyd Jernigan and wife Kathy, Teresa Durham and husband Rodney; brother, Aubrey Gilbert Jernigan and wife Lois; sister, Inez Haskew and husband William Marvin; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.

  5. I never met Audel, but I know his two sons and they present a very clear picture of the man who raised them. Audel was obviously a man of integrity and Godly character. A man with solid work ethic; A man devoted to his family; A man who lived life to the fullest and inspired those around him. Audel has left a legacy of faith. His influence is being handed down to his children and grandchildren, touching the future generations. Even though I never met Audel, knowing his two sons is one of the great privileges in my life.

  7. May the legacy and memory of such a wonderful spouse and parent leave the following generations an example to which they point and aspire.

  9. Eldora,

My father, Hudson Thomas, asked me to try and find you and Audel. It is with great sadness that I find that Audel passed. My father choked up when I read the obit to him.
I am so very sorry for your loss. If anyone in the family reads this, please email me [email protected]. My father would really like to speak with Eldora.
My father was stationed with Audel and our families at one time were really close.
You are in my thoughts and prayers,
    Marissa Thomas
