Andre Lino
André Luis da Fontoura Lino, 47, passed away Monday, August 7, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil, André had an adventurous spirit. At 19, he left Brazil for Portugal and later moved to the U.S., living in Miami, Fort Worth, North Carolina and Dallas. His friends and family remember him for his kindness, generosity and big heart – and his “tenacity” (his family nicknamed him “cabeça duro” – hardhead). Everyone who met him loved him, specially animals. André’s proudest achievement was being a dad, second to that, was getting his Harley. He was a lifelong loyal Grêmio fan, a skilled carpenter, a trusted friend and brother, a jokester and a fun and joyful father. He loved music – from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Bob Marley, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones and any beach, anywhere, was his happy place. He was never afraid of looking silly or what other people thought of him, even when  dressing up for Halloween with his daughter. He was terrible at roller skating, but that didn’t stop him from trying. André believed in giving everyone he met a chance: “If they’re good with me, I’m good with them” was his life philosophy. His giving nature, fierce loyalty to the people he loved, and his open, friendly demeanor are the legacy his family wants him to be remembered by. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Geisa Lino. André is survived by his daughter, Cam Lino (Fort Worth); father Domingos Lino, brothers Cleber and Marco Antonio Lino and sister Kathia Lino (all from Porto Alegre, Brazil); nephew and godson Bruno Lino (São Paulo, Brazil); and nieces Alicia, Gabriela, Rafaela and Manoela Lino (Porto Alegre, Brazil), as well as family and friends throughout Brazil, the U.S. and the world. Donations can be made in André’s name to the DFW Humane Society.
