Solomon Lloyd Self
GRANBURY — Solomon Lloyd Self, 76, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Tarrant County. Funeral: 11 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Solomon was born on January 17, 1936 to Maybelle and Lloyd Self. He married Ruby Wynona Stinnett in 1953. That was also the year he joined the Marines where he proudly served  his country for 4 1/2 years during the Korean War. He worked most of his life as an auto mechanic and eventually purchased his own garage in Burleson and named it Lloyd’s Automotive. He retired from the automotive business and moved to Granbury in 1992. He was preceded in death by a son, Dorman Lloyd Self, his parents Maybelle and Lloyd and a sister, Patsy. Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Ruby Wynona; his children, Eldon, Tracey and Joe and their spouses, Cheryl, Jerry and Debbie. He was PawPaw to 10 grandchildren; Sabrina, Josh, Jeremy, Michael, Stephen, Jeremy, Kevin, Shelby, Leanna and Kristy. He loved each of them very much and spoke of each of them often. He was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren; Hannah, Ellie, Michael, Dallas, Mykayla, Sarah, Jackson, Jara and Kaylee.  He had three step-grandchildren, Cameran, Mika and Landa.  He also leaves behind his brother Leroy Self and sisters, Velda Songer and Martha McAdams.  He will also be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

    You don’t know me but I served with Solomon in Korea in 1955. I have been thinking of Sol for some time but did not know how to get in touch with him. Today I decided to try to contact on Google and low and behold there he was. Sol was a great guy and a friend to all he came in touch with. Sorry I didn’t get to talk to him. Smith Doughty
