Shannon (Shay) Burt
July 02, 1970-July 22,2020 Shannon (Shay) Burt passed away on July 22, 2020 in Forth Worth TX. Shay is preceded in death by her father John Burt Sr. and her mother Linda Mick. She is survived by her siblings; John Burt Jr., Crystal Lutz, Natasha Burt, Heather Burt, Robert Cronk, Ryan Mick and her Aunt Mary, as well as other relatives and many dear friends she considered honorary family. A wonderful person with a true heart of gold, Shay was quite a character. She followed her own guiding principles of “I laugh like I mean it. I love with all my heart. I will take a bullet to protect the people I love.” Shay always had a story to tell, was always ready for an adventure and always found something to laugh about or had a wisecrack to make. Shay never lacked strength, humor and a good punch line. When asked if she spoke another language she’d tell you she was fluent in sarcasm. An avid lifelong sports fan, Shay was faithful to her teams whether they won or lost. She was always willing to debate sports, even if she had to start the debate herself. Shay was passionately devoted to her country and always supportive of those who served, her ‘brothers and sisters in uniform.’ A lifelong member of the NRA, Shay believed strongly in the constitution and the 2nd amendment. She was firmly of the opinion that people should be able to live their lives as they choose as long as they aren’t harming others or themselves. Shay was a lifelong storyteller and this past year she realized her dream of becoming a published writer. She was incredibly proud to have her first short story published and was excitedly looking forward to having her first book published. We will miss her for so many reasons, especially her sense of humor and her huge heart. Shay has gone to a better place but she will remain forever in our hearts.
