  1. Saying good bye doesn’t seem real. Uncle Chalio as I knew him as I was growing up was a good hearted man. He saw a lot of tragedy in the depression years, the Korean War, and even coming home from the war. He found his place in Ft. Worth and stayed closed to his sister Santos M. Villanueva, my mother and his brother Mike, mainly because they all lived in Texas. He was a fixture in our home and lives for a little bit. Until he started his own family with Aunt Nina. He was father to 3 boys and 1 girl which he talked about, yelled at but always loved so unconditionally and they would cling to his leg when he visited my parents house, until they felt comfortable or smelled my moms’ tortillas. He loved animals. He enjoyed his lawnkeeping career that lasted through I think 3 different families. The children of those families called him grandpa Carl. So whether you knew this man as Rosalio, Chalio , or Carl, to know him during any of his 92 years of life was a gift to us from God. He was a hero to me in his own right.
