Peggy Jane Ganaway
BURLESON, TX – Peggy Jane Newsome Ganaway passed away June 14, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Hospice House at Huguley Medical Center in Burleson, TX. Peggy was born December 6, 1928 in Gaffney, SC to Benjamin Newsome and Macie Faries Newsome. She served in the USAF Nurse Corps at Eglin AFB, FL where she met her future husband, John F Ganaway, Jr. They were married in Morgan City, LA on November 15, 1951. After moving around a few years, the young family settled in the Houston, TX area. Peggy worked for many years as an RN at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. When she retired, she was the Head Nurse at the Gastro Intestinal Clinic. In her retirement years, she enjoyed many RV camping trips across the country and even into Canada. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her kind and generous nature endeared her to all who knew her and she will be truly missed. Peggy is survived by three sons, John (Marylouise) Ganaway, Mark (Sarah) Ganaway, and James (Karen) Ganaway; 10 grandchildren, Anna (Dennis) Sturm, Lauren Ganaway, Matthew (Chelsea) Freniere, Sara Talbott, Randy (April) Ganaway, Amy (Daniel) Cink, Austin (Merissa) Ganaway, Alex (Jeanie) Ganaway, Alyson Ganaway, and Aaron Ganaway; and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and one grandson, Sean. Arrangements are being handled by Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home, 12301 South Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76028. Viewing will be from 9 – 10 am on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the funeral home followed by a graveside commitment service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
