Modene Ray Black
A memorial service for Modene Ray Black, 86, will be conducted at 3p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the chapel adjacent to the Keene Seventh-day-Adventist Church where she was a member for many years. Modene passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Keene, Texas. She was born on May 28, 1926 in McCurtain, Oklahoma, Indian Territory. Her father was Robert Alexander Ray and her mother was Lucia Jacobs Ray. Modene moved to Keene in 1965 along with her 6 children from Waco, Texas. She had worked at Brandom Cabinets, located in Keene, Texas, from from 1965 until she retired at age 72 as a foreman. She was preceded in death by both parents, her son, David, and her twin brother, Eugene Ray. She is survived by her five loving children: Dale Martin and his wife, Martha, Luvena Farinola and her husband, Glenn, Velia Easley, and her husband, Warren, Connie McMahon and her husband, Jim, Edward Black and his wife, Rae Lynn. She was also blessed by 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

  1. I was around 11 or 12 the first time I meant Aunt Modene. Even though there was distance oif many miles I knew she loved me because she loved my dad so very much and he her. They grew p in the orphanage together. My dad told me he hit someone I the head with a milk bucket who was picking on her. He also told me when he was adopted ut he asked to go back to be with her. I will always remember her smile and her laugh. I will always remember the love she and my Dad had for each other. It is nice to see all the nice things her family are sharing.
