Mabelanne “Tracy” McDowell, 76, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015. Tracy was raised in Tallahassee, Fla., where she attended Leon High School and Florida State University. She graduated from Abilene Christian University in Abilene in 1964 with a degree in education. History was her passion and it showed in the classroom! She taught school for many years in Harligen. Late in life she married the love of her life, JT, and they were married until his death in 1995. Tracy enjoyed reading, old movies and good Mexican food. She and JT moved to Walnut Springs, where she continued to live until her poor health took her to the Glen Rose Dementia Unit. The family wishes to thank the wonderful health-care workers and hospice staff for their exceptional love and care their mom received over the last 11 months. Tracy was preceded in death by her husband, JT McDowell; and parents, Kermit and Margaret Farris. Survivors: Daughter, Kelly Devota Silander (Peter); son, Corey Dean Hargrove (Linda); and grandchildren, Denver Daughtry, Brooklyn Hargrove, Corey Hargrove, Mason Silander and Billye Silander.
