Lydia Hernandez
Denton, Texas — Lydia Hernandez passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on the 18th of June, 2021. She was born on the 26th day of March, 1938 in Havana, Cuba. Lydia is survived by her children, Mylene, Alex, and Grace; her grandchildren, Alexa, Lexie, Alexander, Julian, Isaac, Decker, Lyddia, Robert, and Lucas; Her great-grandchildren Eli and Leia; her sister, Graciela; and her cat, Blue. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends. In her early adult years, Lydia would get a job working as an acrobat for the Circus. When Lydia left Cuba for Freedom Tower in Miami in 1966, she had only her two children and a determination for a better life. Moving to Chicago shortly after, Lydia met the love of her life in 1969: Roberto. Lydia would move to Chicago with her 2 children, shortly after the move she would have Grace. In 1980 Lydia would move to Florida with her 3 children, where her family would eventually expand to the loving collective it is now. Finally in 2018, she would move to Denton, Texas to spend her remaining years. Lydia enjoyed a nice cup of Cuban coffee, the teachings of Christ, and causing mischief at home. She loved campy comedy movies, reggaetón music, and melodramatic telenovelas. Her greatest pleasure in life was the company of her family.
