  4. I was blessed with getting to work with Larry the past year. Had I known it was going to be one short year, I would have worked less and talked with him more. He was a sweet man with a heart of gold, maybe a little on the ornery side, but a one-of-a-kind, first class guy. I will miss that big smile and hug, and greeting me with “Well, hello, Mayor” as I walk into the office. I will also miss the random conversations, laughs, and an occasional song. He could sing beautifully! I admire him for his military service and thankful to have called him friend and co-worker. You will be missed, Mr. Larry.

  5. I have missed Larry since he left the church (and you too, Cindy). He was a great singer and drummer and all around great guy! Prayers for comfort and peace for you and all the family. What a joy to know he’s with our heavenly father!

  6. I did not know Larry for years, maybe a year and a half, but the time I spent with him was definitely one of the highlights of my life.
We were neighbors in a travel trailer park in Midland for about 6 months before we ever really talked. I was sitting outside, playing my guitar, one evening, and he came over and told me that I inspired him to start playing again, and invited me over to play. He was definitely a much better player than me, but he encouraged me and taught me so much.
Sometimes in life you meet someone that you feel like you’ve known all your life. Larry was definitely that man. I truly enjoyed the evenings we sat outside and played or just sat there telling war stories, talking about life, or work.
He had so much fun going to DC last summer with all the other veterans. That is all he would talk about for weeks.
He was definitely a friend, and a great man. I am so truly sorry that we have lost such a great man and brother.

    1. Scott I can tell you that Larry felt the same way about you! He absolutely loved ya’lls evenings together picking and talking. It made the weekdays away from home more enjoyable! We both know where he is picking and singing now though, and that gives me peace!
Thanks so much for your words,
      Cindy

  7. I have known Larry for over 35 years and he was a very special friend of mine. He and I were both members of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We sang together in the West Texas Sun Country Gentlemen Chorus in Midland as well as several quartets. Larry always sang Lead or Tenor and I always sang Base. We always had a great time together and many conversations about many topics. I will miss my ole singing buddy very much ! I know who will be singing Bass in Larry’s Heavenly Quartet.

    1. Thank you Lyn for your words. You are one of the men throughout the years that Larry not only respected, but genuinely loved! Friends like that don’t come around often!
      God bless you

  9. I sat near Larry in the office at Baker Hughes and eventually became his unofficial tech support guy and friend. He would take me out to lunches, help me with my golf swing, and took me on my first ever clay shoot. In the short time I knew Larry, he made a big impact on my life and is one of the main reasons I shifted my career to sales. I will always be grateful for his friendship and mentorship. He sure had a knack for bringing a smile to everyone he met and I’m sure he’s still doing the same thing up above. Miss you Larry!

  10. I just read about Larry’s passing. I lived across the street from him in Midland. He was instrumental in me joining the Brand New Opree of Odessa and later the Barbershop group in Midland. Larry was a good friend and great guy to know. I still have a couple of 45’s he made. He will be missed. I will never forget the day of his passing as it was on my birthday. RIP good friend and condolences to Cindy and his family.
