Kimberley Anne Grinnell Mason
Kimberley Anne Grinnell Mason passed away on March 24, 2021 in Granbury, TX with her family by her side. She was born on February 15, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Betty Jean Grinnell. She married her high school sweetheart, David Mason in 1976. They shared a loving marriage and had many fun adventures in their 44 years together. Kimberley grew up in Dallas, TX and attended both Woodrow Wilson High School and Lake Highlands High School. She was always full of exciting tales of her time with friends growing up in Dallas. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from North Texas State University and her Master’s degree in Education Administration from Tarleton State University. Kimberley had a passion for children that spurred her on throughout her career in education. She held many jobs over the years beginning with teaching special education and eventually moving on to both middle and high School principal in Taylor, TX where she became a tried and true Taylor Duck. Kimberley was a person who never wavered from her religious and moral beliefs. She loved God with all her heart and strove to live each day honoring Him. She was very proud of the accomplishments she made in new and innovative education programs she helped to lead and develop during her educational career. She was always fighting for the underprivileged, underserved, and disadvantaged youth. She often used her motto “What’s best for students is not always what’s easiest for the adults”. That was her career mission statement and she never strayed from it. More than anything though, Kimberley loved her family. Her love showed through by continually organizing and preparing for all the family holidays, birthdays, and special events. After her retirement nothing brought her more joy than fishing with her son in Port O’Connor, taking road trips with her husband, and spending time with her daughter, son-in-law and 3 beloved grandchildren. Kimberley is survived by her husband, David Mason of Granbury; son, Kenyon Mason of Austin; daughter Alicia Combs and husband Josh of Granbury; sisters Sally Campbell of McKinney and Tawnee Lawson of Pflugerville; brother Jeffery Plott of Alvin; grandchildren Case, Kimmy, and Cole Combs; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean Grinnell and her brothers, David Michael Plott and Tory Dean Plott. The Family will host a “Celebration of a Life Well Lived” gathering for friends and family on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. It will be held at Fall Creek Ranch located at 8220 Langdon Leake Ct. Granbury, Texas, 76049. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kimberley’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Kimberley put family above all else and will be forever missed. Our solace is knowing that on March 24, 2021, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ welcomed another true angel into heaven. We love and miss you Kimberley.

  1. Alicia…my deepest condolences on the loss of your mom, Mrs. Mason. I respected your mom so much while she was employed with Taylor ISD. She not only was a fellow employee, but a friend! I would ALWAYS tell her she looked EXACTLY like Jennifer Aniston! May she rest in eternal peace.
