Julie Rebecca Skotnik
Julie Rebecca Skotnik “There was a little girl, With a great big curl . . . . .” Born June 2, 1975 in Arlington, Texas; died peacefully March 15, 2015 in Dallas, Texas.  Kind, compassionate, and emotionally generous, Julie had frequently spoken of being an organ donor.   The wonderful staff at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and Southwest Transplant Alliance made that possible.  Her family is comforted knowing their loss has blessed six people with hope and healthy, vital organs. Julie also donated her hair to Wigs for Kids. One of Julie’s many talents was baking; family and friends were always excited to receive treats and goodies from her kitchen. She is survived by: Mother, Christina Skotnik; brother Michael Skotnik; aunts Beth Grubbs and husband Bobby; Meg Fletcher and husband Neal; uncles Jeff Miller and wife Chris; Greg Miller; John Skotnik and wife Claire; aunt Scottie Newman and husband Leonard; uncle Bill Arrington and wife Sharon; cousins Shannon Lawrence and husband Lance; James Miller and wife Erin, and their children Benjamin and Elizabeth; Joshua Fletcher; John P. Skotnik and wife Jackie; Joe Skotnik; Karina Roe and husband Cody; David Newman; Cassie Newman; Julie’s “adopted children” Spencer and Isaiah and their mother Kristi Taylor; and close family friend James Froelich. She was preceded in death by her father Tracey Skotnik; maternal grandparents Francis and Florence Miller; and paternal grandparents Nancy and Joe Skotnik. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to any local animal shelter; the Grayson Crisis Center; or any charity of the donor’s preference. Mass Service: Monday March 23,2015 10 AM at St.Marys Catholic Church 727 South Travis in Sherman,TX. Reception to follow.
