Jon Golden Elliott
Jon Golden Elliott, age 84 and former resident of Cardington Ohio passed away February 17, 2019 at Atria Senior Living Center, Carrollton, Texas, surrounded by loving friends and family. He was born in Roseville, Ohio on October 11, 1934 to the late Golden and Elmyra Elliott (Woodiwiss). Jon was a 1952 graduate of Martel High School and immediately joined the United States Air Force. He spent 20 years active duty with the Air Force and a proud Korean War Veteran. During his Air Force career, Jon worked telecommunications supporting combat forces in Vietnam, security and training. Following his military retirement, he obtained his law enforcement credentials and worked for Eaton Corporation, Marion Ohio, as a security guard. Jon also worked for the Cardington, Ohio police force as well as the Marion County corrections Warden. He eventually became the Chief of Police for Ashley. When he ultimately retired, Jon and his wife of 56 years, Marie Elliott (Lockyer) moved to Beaufort, South Carolina. Jon and Marie eventually decided to move closer to family again and relocated to Stafford, Virginia in 2011. After Marie’s death in 2014 and a family location change to Texas, Jon packed up his wagon with help from family and headed west. Jon enjoyed reading western novels, watching boxing, court TV shows and had a passion for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, Jon’s greatest love in life was his family. On April 11, 1958, Jon married Marie (Lockyer) while stationed in Newfoundland, Canada. They had by 4 children; Terry Lynn (Tom) Bell of Albany, Georgia, Jon Louis Elliott of Tupelo, MS, Jeff (Stacy) Elliott of Midlothian, TX and Scott Elliott of Columbus, OH. Jon also had 4 Grandchildren; Ian Bell, Andrea Bell, Beth Young (Matt) and Kayla Gardi; and 3 Great-Grandchildren; Ryan, Charlie and Allie Young. In addition to his deceased and loving wife Marie, Jon had 3 siblings who all proceeded him in death; Rex Elliott of Marion, OH, Ralph Elliott of Cardington and Don (Butch) Elliott of Cardington. Family and Friends will join together for “A Celebration of Life” for Jon in Midlothian, Texas on April 20, 2019. Jon and Marie’s final resting place will be in Newfoundland, Canada. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Fisher House or Amity Hospice of Dallas, Texas.

  1. We were so saddened to hear of Jon’s passing. Our condolences are sent to the family. We are happy he is reunited with Marie and will be brought to Newfoundland for burial. I’m sure Marie would be happy knowing that. We are looking forward to seeing.
