  1. Please know that you are all in my prayers. The Lord will take good care of Johnny. Pease let me know when you come to Berea. I would hope you will allow me to attend a service here when ever.

  2. Dear LaVerna,

You and John will always be in my

memory as young lovers. Keep those

sunshine days in your heart. The tears will fade, you know.

  3. My wife said recently that Pop was simply such a good, good man. He was always there for family or friends or strangers for that matter, he always laughed and always loved. I remember some of us grandkids making Popo sick to his stomach spinning him in the tea cups at Disney World, and him being at all my football games and practices. We miss him, he’s the very example of a Grandfather. I’ve been blessed to have Popo to look up to.

  4. LaVerna & Family,

So very sorry to hear about John. I remember the smile, would light up the room and making us so welcome. LaVerna and John were always taking care of someone, John’s Mom, Aunt Mabel, the kids, the grandkids.

  5. My father new the family and I am blessed by my years of knowing the Filina Family. Truely a great man has left us.

  6. Poppo was is and forever will be one of the greatest men i have ever known and i will miss him very much.

  8. God gives us tests

    To help us grow

    Why He does things

    We don’t always know

    One day all things

    Will become clear

    Just remember His love

    Is truly sincere

You are in our thoughts and prayers as these tests are upon you. God Bless.

  9. Thanks, John, for your labors on our high school class newsletter, for your welcoming us into your home in Texas, for all the laughs we’ve shared, for all your wondering “about whatever happened to Bonnie Fay”, for your steadfast devotion to LaVerna (my childhood playmate) and for just being you.

  10. WE WISH THE ENTIRE FAMILY OUR SINCERE CONDOLENCES. WE HAVE MANY FOND MEMORIES FROM OVER THE YEARS.

WE WILL MISS JOHNNY, AND OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL AT THIS TIME.GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

  11. Dear Jon and Family,

Deepest sympathy. We know that Dad will be missed by all. We are left with the thought that he left behind wonderful children to carry on for him as his legacy. He was proud of all of them and we are too. You are in our thoughts.

    Love you,

    Larry and Lou

  12. Always had a smile on his face and joking around on the Christmas holidays in Ohio. Always made the day fun. Seems to me like John and LaVerna have been together forever, through thick and thin. A couple that has been an inspiration to many! Glad to have been able to spend the time with them in Ohio. Will always have fond memories of him!

    Much love!
