Jerry Bob Riggs
Lake Bridgeport – Jerry Bob Riggs, 62, known as “JR” went home to glory on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Life Celebration Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. at South Euless Baptist Church located at 1000 Simmons Drive, Euless, TX. JR was born on July 30, 1954 in Dallas, TX but spent most of his school years growing up in the Euless ISD. He was a gifted athlete in baseball and basketball, graduating from Trinity High School in 1972. JR always liked working with his hands and took “Building Trades” in high school and afterwards went to work at Fox and Jacobs during the house-building boom of the 1970’s. He married in 1972, enrolled in Cosmetology School in 1975 and afterwards went to work at his Dad’s salon in north Dallas. In 1980 he moved back to Euless and opened JR’s Cuts which remained in operation until 2004. JR was an avid outdoorsman who loved water skiing, camping, hunting, fishing and boating. He was also a huge sports fan, especially of his beloved Dallas Cowboys. JR possessed a love for all animals, had several pets at one time and would have made a good veterinarian. JR was active in many areas of church ministry and his servant’s heart was recognized when he was ordained as a deacon in 1997 at South Euless Baptist Church. Nothing provided JR with more joy or satisfaction than to be able to be a blessing to help someone, always willing to go above and beyond to meet a need, for foremost to him was his love of family and friends. He was a good, loyal friend and a faithful, loving husband, son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He and his wife eventually retired to Lake Bridgeport but in 2012 he became involved in a two year renovation project at Sid Richardson Boy Scout Ranch across the lake, so he never fully retired. JR was so very special and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Survivors: wife and constant companion for 45 years, Myra Riggs of Lake Bridgeport; parents, Loretta and Harold Lemons and sister Deretta Lichtenstein, all of Whitney, sister-in-laws Cordelia Collins of Euless and Doretha Roberts of Ft. Worth, 4 nephews, 2 nieces and 6 great nieces and nephews and countless friends.

  5. This is one man who I always considered a great man , very handsome and gifted , the one true love of my sisters’ She honored and respected him all through their high school sweetheart lives and they were mine and my husbands best of friends He also showered her with the best of adoration and respect anyone could ask for . We all grew up together . JR and Myra were so good to my children .They showered my children with great and awesome gifts and to me they always reminded me of movie stars and tourists because the always looked like they were on vacation and dressed very well. I loved JR so very much I am sorry for my sweet sister to not have him around anymore but know her faith and trust in our Lord and Saviors will be content to continue doing the Lords work until he returns and she and JR will be reunited again in heaven in their magnificent mansion in heaven above! I love you Jerry Bob Riggs and thank you for all you did for my sister and all members of her family , rest in peace ! God bless Myra Riggs for her dedication to the Lord and her husand!
