James W. Beeler, Jr
James W. Beeler, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 1, 2016 at the age of 91, surrounded by his family and the many friends he had made at Brookdale Broadway Cityview. Jim was born on February 9, 1925 to James Walter Beeler Sr. and Myrtle Forrester Beeler in Cabool, Missouri. Jim joined the Navy in 1943 and went into the V-12 program after which he went to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. After graduation from the Academy in 1949 he married his wife Beth and began flight training to become a Naval Aviator. Jim retired as a Commander after 25 years of service in 1968. During his service in the Navy, Jim had Beth had 4 children. After retiring from the Navy, the family moved to Arlington, Texas where Jim went to work for Vought Aeronautics as a Project Engineer. In 1987 he retired from Vought and moved to Burleson. After moving to Burleson he became a Certified Master Gardner with the Agriculture Extension Office in Fort Worth, providing information on gardening at Home and Garden shows, giving talks to civic clubs and schools and volunteering at the Extension Office in Fort Worth. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Beth. He is survived by his son Jim and his wife Linda, his daughters Kathy Beeler, Karen Sulak and her husband Wayne and Patricia Berry and her husband Andrew. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brookdale Broadway Cityview 3rd floor caregivers, especially his nurse, Joe, who cared for him so well over the last few years. Thanks also to Vitas Hospice staff who assisted in his care over the past six months. Jim was well loved by all as evidenced by the many caregivers from both organizations who came in to say good bye over the last few days of his life on earth. Internment will be at the Dallas – Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 10:00am September 7, 2016, after a brief ceremony.
