James Daniel Pollard
James Daniel Pollard September 12, 1944 – April 5, 2016 The Gates of Heaven swung wide open for James Daniel Pollard on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Jim was born in Hutchinson, Kansas and later moved with his family and grew up in Midland, Texas. Jim was so full of life; he was blessed with the special ability to make everyone he met feel so appreciated and special. Whether you called for Jim or James or just “Pollard” you could always count on him being there for you. His love of music from a very early age followed him throughout his life – whether playing in a band in high school or going out to listen to music or just listening to the local radio station – it all made him happy. Little known facts about songs or lyrics or artists he could pull out of his head in a heartbeat and amaze those that knew him. Jim made a huge impact on all the people he worked with as a successful sales representative for many years. He took great pride in the many honors and awards he earned from both local and national companies. But nothing else he accomplished or did in his life overshadowed the overwhelming love and pride he felt for his family. He will always be loved and deeply missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Connie Pollard of Burleson,  Son: Jeff Pollard,  Grandchildren: Jinny Pollard (Seanray), Cindy Pollard(Devin), Robert Graham, Lindsey Shirvey (Michah), Rebbecca Graham (Morgan), and Great grandson: Vaiden, Brother: Steve Pollard (Sharon), and Sisters: Carolyn Steadham (Roger)  and Debbie Pounds (Darryl) and many more extended family members. Jim was preceded in death by parents Joe and Marie Pollard. He requested no flowers.  If you wish you may make a donation, in his name, to Bar Cross Cowboy Church or a charity of your choice.  Celebration of Life services will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at: Bar Cross Cowboy Church 12001 East FM 917 Alvarado, TX 76009 (between I-35 W and Hwy 287)

  1. My Love and Prayers to my sweet brothers family. I will always miss my big brother and look forward to being with him and family again some day,

  2. What beautiful words. They describe so eloquently the Jim I knew and loved and will always remember. I loved to listen to him talk and share. Jim will always have a piece of my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you: Connie, Jeff, Jinny, Cindy, and all the rest of Jim’s family and friends. It’s easy to say he’s with our Lord now, but I know how much your hearts ache and how much you will miss him. I pray for you all, for comfort and peace. With all my love, Grace

  3. For my cousin James. He was a very good musician and loved music. I also remember James always had a new joke to tell when we had our family reunions.
    Your cousin Robyn Logsdon White.

    You will be missed.

  4. Condolences and deepest sympathy to James’ entire family. He was one of the nicest, most decent men I have every known, from our days of growing up together in West Texas, on up to his untimely passing. He always had a big smile, great attitude and loved his music, especially hanging out with all of his old musician friends. His presence will be missed, but he will never be forgotten. R.I.P my good man, you were one of the best.

  5. If this is the Pollard I knew at Stephen F. Austin Jr. High I can tell you I never associated with or was in contact with him after that. But, I think of him several times a year even now at my age of 71. Isn’t it strange how a brief friendship or comment from someone can stick with you over decades? He was first string center on our team. I was a small second string quarterback and once I had to actually start and play an entire game. Lost it. Afterward I was crying and I heard Pollard say to someone, ” you know who played a hell of a game? Todd.” I quit crying and remember him fondly to this day. God bless him and his family.

    1. That sounds like Jim. Yes he is an old Midland guy and went to Austin. John Payne also Austin j.h. and Midland dude sang at the service “Old Friends” by Willie and Roger Miller and I cant remember the 3rd person. John was awesome. Thank you for the awesome comment about Jim!
