Haltom City – James (Jim) C. Nichols, 69, died Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital. Funeral services are being arranged by Lone Star Cremation Services. He was born in Kenton, Ohio August 6, 1951 and lived most of his early life in Richwood, Ohio and Marion, Ohio. When he was 19 years old, he made his way to Texas to attend college in Tyler. But the roaming spirit hit him, and he moved to the island of Maui in Hawaii. He did paint and other labor work there before returning to Texas to marry his girlfriend, Vickie Murphy. During their marriage, they had two children and Jim adopted Vickie’s daughter from a previous marriage. Jim (also known to friends as Nick) worked hard all his life in the construction business. He will be missed by his many friends, acquaintances, family and his dog, Yoda. He is survived by his relatives in Ohio: sister, Penelope (Penny) Hunt (John Martin), nieces, Jennifer Hunt and Kelly Hunt and a great nephew Joey and great niece Jordyn. He is predeceased by his father, Robert J. Nichols and mother, Maxine B.L. McArdle Nichols. He loved his sports, and he was extremely knowledgeable about politics. Jim was incredibly happy with the results of the 2020 Presidential election. He and his sister had many phone conversations about politics in this country (they were on the same page!), sports teams (especially the Ohio State Buckeyes), and her children and grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held later, and the ashes scattered as Jim requested.
