Geneva Ann Swagerty James
Geneva Ann Swagerty James was born May 17, 1936 in Grady, Oklahoma. She passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, Feburary 4, 2020 at age 83 years. She lived most of her early years on the family farm near Rush Springs, Oklahoma and graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1954. She met Donald C. James through church that his dad was pastoring and they married on December 31, 1955. Rev. Fred James officiated the wedding. Geneva was nineteen and Don was 18 and He was still finishing his senior year in high school. They had one daughter, born while in Oklahoma and then moved to Wichita Falls, Texas around 1959. Don’s father Rev. Fred James started pastoring a church there and they followed, They had two more children after moving to Texas. Geneva moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 2016 when she needed more care given by her daughter, Renee’. Geneva was very gifted, creative, patient and kind with a sweet spirit. She started sewing from home and she was a first class seamstress/tailor. She sewed for The Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre making costumes, The Willow Tree a women’s boutique and Dillard’s Department Stores with alterations. Geneva had countless individual customers as well. Later on she began her Love Of Quilts and had completed well over 60 quilts. Services to be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Glenview Baptist Church, 4805 NE Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX 76137. There will be a short graveside service at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas at 3:00 P.M., also on Tuesday.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald Charles James. Her mother Noba Mae Wright Swagerty and father Vernon Loyd Swagerty. She is survived by her brother, Ferrall Vernon Swagerty of Wichita Falls, Texas. Her Children; Daughters, Rhonda Ann James Pool, Renee’ Annette James Gilbert and son-in-law Dan L. Gilbert of Fort Worth, Texas and her son Ronald (Ronnie) Lee James of Wichita Falls, Texas. Grandchildren;  Randy and Vicki Roberts of Rockwall, TX, Robbie Martin of Queens, NY, Rusty Patterson of Atlanta, GA, Lyndon James of Wichita Falls, TX, Lindsey Story and husband Chris Story of Fort Worth, TX and Taylor Gilbert of Watauga, TX. Extended family Deanna and Roy Kiser of Burleson, TX, Dana and James Pechacek of Keller, TX. Many Nephews and Nieces. Great grandchildren; Evan Roberts, Paisley Story, Lennon Story. Extended family Sydnee Gailey, Karlee Gailey, Jye Pechacek and Morgan Story.

  1. Prayers for your loss, but it is only temporary. Geneva was a wonderful lady and sister-in-love. She was so gifted in many areas. Geneva made almost everything i wore. Always smiling and laughing. There is a big family reunion going on in heaven ever bigger than “The James Gang” reunions we had here.

  2. I like Geneva. She was married to my cousin Don. It appears that she was a very successful person. Do rest in peace sweet Geneva. Over yonder! And dearly beloved, you will be remembered in my prayers.

  3. I did not know Mrs. James but her daughter Renee’ is a dear friend. My prayers for you Renee’ and your family. So very sorry for your loss.
