Edmundo Rotavista
BURLESON — Edmundo Rotavista, 88, left the loving arms of his family and went home to be with his Lord on Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, 960 W. Bluff St., Fort Worth, with the Rev. Lindsay Ann Woods officiating. The Rev. Rotavista, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was born in Cali, Colombia, on April 3, 1924. He studied at the American School in Cali through high school and worked as a translator for the international news service during World War II. He came to the United States in 1950 with his wife, Rosana, and their daughter, Angela. He earned his bachelor’s degree at TCU in 1955 and worked at Alcon and Royal Printing until he retired in 1989. He returned to TCU’s Brite Divinity School where he shared a special bond of attending TCU at the same time as his granddaughter and eventually earned his master’s of theology in 1993. He was a man of many talents as an artist, poet and author. His love of God touched many lives. He led weekly Bible studies at his home with his wife. Together they ventured as missionaries to Spain as well as their native Colombia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Matilde, and beloved wife of 64 years, Rosana. Survivors: Brother, Juan; sister, Aura; daughter, Angela and husband, Joaquin Garcia; granddaughters, Emilia Maria and husband, Michael Kaiser and Ana Isabel Garcia; and great-granddaughters, Sofia, Natalia and Lucia Kaiser.
