Ed King
A celebration of life for Ed King will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 9, at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home Chapel, of Cleburne. The Rev. George Sutton and Dr. Jimmy Finley will be officiating. Mr. King passed away on November 5, 2004, in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, November 8, at the funeral home. Edward Berry King was born in Kilgore, Texas on April 16, 1913, the son of Lottie Whittington and Asbury Alexander King. Mr. King moved to Cleburne in 1932 to begin his career as a cattle rancher and made ranching his vocation for over 60 years. Ed and his late brother, John S. “Jolly” King, were partners in operating four ranches as well as King Brothers Implement Company. Ed focused primarily on the ranching business and took pride in raising quality commercial cattle on land which was well maintained through many conservation practices. Mr. King was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. Mr. King is survived by his wife Christine King, of Houston, Texas. On November 16, 2004, they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Survivors also include, sister, Viola Kinsey, of Austin; daughter, Karen King Wilson and husband Brad, of Houston; son Bob King and wife, Marilyn, of Cleburne; grandson, Robert King and wife Ann-Katherine, of Cleburne;granddaughter, Mary Nell Andrus and husband, John, of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Amy Shellenberger and husband, Luke, of Coralville, Iowa; granddaughters, Emily and Sarah Wilson, of Houston; five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
