David Richard Miller
David Richard Miller passed away on December 31, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. Born March 25, 1949, David grew up in Garland, TX where he graduated from South Garland HS. David was predeceased by his father Richard Floyd Miller Jr. and his mother Lahoma Hardin Miller. He is survived by his wife Lisa Wooldridge Miller, daughter Lauren, and son Stuart. His brothers Paul, Mark, Daniel Bruce, Bryan, Matthew and sisters, Kathleen Rackler, and Julie Gardiola. David served two tours in Vietnam with the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment of the U.S. Army. He earned the Bronze Star with combat decoration for valor, three Purple Hearts, and a list of other honorable decorations. After leaving active service, he served in the 112th Armor 49th Armored Division of the Texas Army National Guard. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and remained active in scouting throughout his life. He proceeded Kenneth Kahler as Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 524 in Duncanville, TX, where he volunteered much of his time. He devoted his life to serving his country, volunteering to help those in need, and to his family and friends. He was a loving son, older brother, husband, father, and leader in his community. Hundreds of young men learned the importance of integrity, leadership, duty, and compassion from him. His love for the outdoors was compelling, and what we learned from him will continue to be passed on by his friends and family. He has left the world better than he found it, which is what he wanted. Donations can be made to the David Miller Memorial fund benefiting BSA Troop 524 at www.paypal.com/paypalme/davidmillermemorial , The Salvation Army, or a food bank in your community. Services will be held later in the year.
