My heart goes out to this family for the loss they are feeling.
The Lord is good,a stronghold in the day of trouble,And He knows those who trust in him. God is there for you all ;and so we will be all so .. Our hearts and prayers are with you!! Vada& Aaron
Dan was a great individual.

I worked for the Texas Historical Commission for some years, and had occasion to meet the chairs of many County Historical Commissions. Dan was one of the very best. He had an encyclopedic knowledge and love of Johnson County history. He was delighted to share it, and rejoiced in new information. He fought for what he believed in, and because of him many local historic resources will be appreciated for decades. He was a scholar and a gentleman. His family and community will miss him tremendously, but it is a small consolation that he is reunited with his beloved Billie Anne.
I knew Dan when I worked for the Texas Historical Commission and paid him a personal visit in Cleburne some years ago (we shared a common interest in antiques).

DAN. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY
Wanderer, look to the heart,
Beholden to its own reasons,
And find there, among dry sand and stone,
Eternal Spring, fount of absolution,
Bearing to every wandering soul
The Good News that will prevail:
All shall be well.
This is from your beloved book, The Library of Poetry and Song:
“Nay, Hope may whisper with the dead
By bending forward where they are;
But Memory, with a backward tread,
Communes with them afar.”
Miss you ~Dan.
